Testing
The bottom installed spring-loaded hook can be removed, and by doing this, the top beam of the tripod can be removed and inverted. This offers the option of inverting the camera, which is ideal for macro photography.
The build quality of the KF-BA225 tripod is good, the legs are made from carbon fiber and have a smooth texture. The rest of the tripod, especially the tripod body is made from solid aluminum.
While the rubber base of the legs is solid and has a good grip on many surfaces, it seems to be prone to scratching. This means that sharp rocks will eventually damage the base of the legs, fortunately, these can be easily removed and replaced.
With the tripod fully extended, the legs will show a certain degree of flexing. This is not uncommon as when a tripod is extended, the thinnest parts of the legs become integral in the overall structure.
Final thoughts
The K&F Concept KF-BA225 tripod is available for around 120 US dollars or EUR on the K&F website or on the main retailers. For this price, the KF-BA225 has plenty of competition, however this tripod offers plenty of features to justify its price. The carbon fiber structure is solid and lightweight. In fact, this tripod is so light that you can take it everywhere with ease.
The legs can be rotated and inverted to not only reduce the overall dimensions of the tripod when its folded, but also to allow for a lower stance when used.
The build quality of this tripod is very good, the carbon fiber legs have no imperfections and the same can be said for the aluminum body. The only quality issues are present on the rubber pads of the legs; however, those pads can be replaced with ease.
The carbon fiber structure used on the legs has a good design and is solid. The carbon fiber texture is contrasted by the bright orange accents placed on the metal made components of the tripod.
The included ball head is good and just like the tripod, it offers plenty of flexibility. The ball head can move on all axis and can also rotate for full 360° panoramic photography. Unfortunately, just like many other travel tripods, the top plate is attached to the tripod head using a classic vice grip system. It works as intended; however, a quick release system would have been much better.
In conclusion, the K&F Concept TM2324 KF-BA225 is a good lightweight travel tripod that has a great design. The main feature of this tripod is its lightweight construction. With a weight of just 1kg, this tripod is easy to carry for long distances. In addition, this tripod offers plenty of flexibility in terms of height and adjustment on all axis both for the legs and for the tripod head.
