Visual inspection
The My Passport Ultra Metal Edition 1 TB uses a metal and plastic case. The front side has a circular brushed metal design, also on the right top corner we find the logo of the manufacturer.
The sides feature the same material and finish as the front side, also the edges of the Hard Disk are smooth.
On the left side we find the connector for the included USB 3.0 cable. To the right of the connector we find a small white activity LED.
The back side has a simplistic look, the case being made out of plastic. Here we find both the name of the product series and a label with additional info for the Hard Disk.
Software
The My Passport Ultra Metal Edition 1 TB model is accompanied by several Western Digital pieces of software: WD Drive Utilities, WD Security and WD SmartWare.
These programs help the user to configure and safely back up the data on the Drive.
Testing
To test the Hard Disk the following software was used: ATTO Disk Benchmark, HD Tune Pro 5.60, Crystal DiskMark 5.0.2. In order to obtain a precise result each test was performed three times.
