Thermalright Silver Arrow IB-E Extreme

Visual inspection

The Silver Arrow IB-E Extreme has a unique design due to the shape of the heatsink and the fins. The eight heatpipes are also shaped to not only provide the best heat transfer but also compliment the overall design of the heatsink. The two TY-143 150mm fans are also adding to the overall aesthetic of the cooler, due to their color combination and irregular dimension of 152 mm x 140 mm.

The heatsink of the Silver Arrow IB-E Extreme has a weight of 750g and is composed out of 44 aluminum fins and eight nickel-plated copper heatpipes. The shape of the fins and the top plate is done to not only direct the airflow through the heatsink but also to provide the unique look of the cooler.

The Silver Arrow IB-E Extreme is equipped with eight heatpipes made from Nickel-plated Copper, each heatpipe has an outer diameter of 6mm. The heatsink and heatpipes have a slight offset to provide more space for the PCIe expansion slots.

The base of the cooler, like the heatpipes, is made from Nickel-plated Copper, the surface of the base is evenly polished to a mirror like reflection. The contact between the heatpipes and the base of the cooler is achieved by soldering the base, heatpipes and a top plate together. This method is widely used and provides a good thermal transfer.

The design of the top plate has angular shapes on the sides that compliment the overall shape of the fins. The heatpipe endings are covered by tall chromed caps that have a unique shape, hexagonal at the base and round at the top.

The sides of the fins are angled and have an indent to allow for the fan clips to sit. The middle of the fins is carved inwards to aid with the airflow generated by the two fans.

The two 152mm fans included in the package use a 4-pin Molex connector for power delivery. These fans are called TY-143 and have an asymmetrical format, the dimensions are: 152 mm x 140 mm x 26.5 mm. In terms of performance, the fans have a minimum speed of RPM 600 and a maximum speed of 2,500 RPM. In addition, the advertised life expectancy of these fans is around 50,000h.
