Silverstone Hydrogon D120 ARGB

Visual inspection

The Silverstone Hydrogon D120 ARGB has a modern design, with a simple color scheme, silver and black. The CPU cooler has addressable RGB LEDs, these are installed on the two 120mm fans which are used for the active cooling.

The dimensions of the cooler are: (H)153mm x (W)125mm x (D)112mm.

The heatsink has an offset dual tower design to not only accommodate up to three 120mm fans but also to offer a good clearance for the RAM modules. The two towers of the heatsink are not symmetrical, as the front tower has only 38 aluminum cooling fins while the back tower has around 42 cooling fins. This is done to accommodate for the shape of the heatpipes which are rounded on the lower part.

The Hydrogon D120 ARGB has six nickel-plated copper heatpipes. As is the standard with modern CPU coolers, each heatpipe has an outer diameter of 6mm. In addition, the heatpipes are arranged into a U shape to facilitate the heat transfer and to support the cooling fins.

The endings of the heatpipes are exposed and unfortunately, their endings are not symmetrical at all. This will not affect the performance of the CPU cooler in any way; however, it will disrupt the overall look of the cooler.

The baseplate of the Hydrogon D120 ARGB is large and it is made from solid nickel-plated copper. The surface of this baseplate is very smooth with only a subtle radial pattern present.
The heatpipes look to be soldered directly to the back of the baseplate. This method is considered as the best in terms of the heat transfer between two surfaces.

The Hydrogon D120 ARGB uses two 120mm fans for its active cooling. These fans have no product name, instead they have the model number: CC12025H12S.
Each fan has nine addressable RGB LEDs installed on the edges of the center hub. Other features of this fans include rubber pads on both sides of the corners of the frame and a frosted white impeller design.

The cables of the fans are not covered by any sleeving; however, the wires are flat and black.
Each fan has a total of four connectors, two connectors for power and two for the RGB LEDs. As is the case with many Silverstone fans, these can also pass through the RGB signal to another fan and, power the fan next to them.
