Silicon Power UD80 1TB

Visual inspection

The Silicon Power UD80 1TB is a standard M.2 SSD that uses the PCIe Gen 3×4 interface and is widely available in several storage capacities.

In terms of the design, this SSD is as simple as it gets, with no heatsink and no included accessories. All we have with this SSD is a label applied on the front part of the PCB. This label has a good design which is in line with other Silicon Power M.2 SSDs.

The Silicon Power UD80 1TB uses the standard 2280 form factor which makes it compatible with all devices that have the 2280 space and form factor.

The Silicon Power UD80 1TB uses a MAXIO made controller, with the model MAP1202A-F1C Cougar.

This is a dual-core controller based on the ARM Cortex-R5 architecture and built on 22 nm. Unfortunately, it has no DRAM support whatsoever, this means slower loading times for your SSD.

The NAND memory chips are called Xtacking 2.0 and are made by Yangtze Memory, or YMTC for short. These are made on 128-layer technology and on 22nm, while using a TLC cache system and have the model number: YMC3G002Tb64CA1C0.

As for their speed, they are running at a constant 1600 MT per second.
