Final thoughts
The Sabrent Rocket 4 2TB is available for 280 USD or the equivalent in your local currency. This price is for the 2TB variant of the SSD plus the custom heatsink and all the accessories. The design of the Rocket 4 2TB is similar with the one used on other Sabrent SSDs. The only differences between them, design wise is the color of the PCB and the color combination of the front label.
The Rocket 4 2TB is a PCIe 4.0 SSD and the performance reflects that. The cache is large enough to withstand more than 100GB of data transferred at once without filling and slowing the drive.
In terms of the general performance, the Rocket 4 2TB is at the same level or ahead of newer PCIe 4.0 SSDs. This is thanks to the new Phison PCIe 4.0 controller and the Kioxia 96-layer 3D TLC memory chips.
The included heatsink has a great build quality and unlike other SSD heatsinks, this one will perform. In fact, with the heatsink installed the temperature of the SSD was lowered by 19°C. However, this heatsink has one drawback, it’s size. Not all motherboards will be compatible with such a large heatsink and the PS5 M.2 slot will not close with the heatsink installed.
The Sabrent Rocket 4 2TB has an endurance rating of 3,600TBW and a 5-year warranty.
In conclusion, the Sabrent Rocket 4 2TB is an outstanding SSD that will perform great on a new PCIe 4.0 system. Even on a PCIe 3.0 motherboard, the SSD still performs great in all tasks. The cache is big enough to not slow down the SSD and the temperature is kept in check thanks to the included heatsink. The only drawback of this SSD is the pricing when compared to the newer Sabrent Rocket 4.0 Plus models.
