Visual inspection
The IRDM PRO DDR4 DEEP BLACK is part of the IRDM Pro series of RAM kits. This model has the same heatsink design as the rest of the series, however, it uses a black-on-black color combination. These RAM kits are low profile as the heatsink is barely any taller than the PCB, in fact, this RAM kit has a height of 34mm.
The top part of the heatsink is angled towards the PCB, this design is simple and efficient. On this side, the only graphic elements present are the IRDM logo and name, both painted in a dark shade of black.
The highlight of the design of the IRDM PRO DDR4 DEEP BLACK is the IRDM logo placed at the center on both sides of the RAM module. This logo has the same shade of black as the rest of the graphics. The IRDM logo has a smooth texture which is a contrast to the brushed texture of the heatsink.
The removal of the heatsink is easy, as you simply pry off the sides of the heatsink. However, the used thermal pads are hard to break apart and if you are not careful, you might bend the heatsink. The best way to approach this is to heat up the RAM module to soften the thermal pads.
With the heatsink removed we get to see that the IRDM PRO DDR4 DEEP BLACK uses Hynix made memory chips. These have the model number: H5AN8G8N.
