The be quiet! Pure Rock 2 FX is similar in design with the all-black Pure Rock 2 CPU cooler. The main change brought by the Pure Rock 2 FX is the front 120mm fan that is part of the new Light Wings fan series. This CPU cooler is also the first RGB air CPU cooler that be quiet! has released to this date.

The Pure Rock 2 FX is a single tower air CPU cooler that can be used with two 120mm fans or the included single Light Wings fan.

From a design perspective, this CPU cooler manages to blend both the elegant look that is characteristic of be quiet! and addressable RGB LEDs.

The be quiet! Pure Rock 2 FX has a height of 155mm a depth of 88mm and a width of 121mm with a weight of 685g.

The Pure Rock 2 FX has a single tower heatsink design, and uses no less than 55 aluminum made cooling fins. The heatsink and heatpipes are angled to create an offset and move the front fan away from the RAM slots of the motherboard.

The fins of the heatsink are painted black like the rest of the cooler. The sides of the fins are bent downwards and shaped to create solid anchor points for the fan clips. The bending of the cooling fins on the sides is done to increase the structural rigidity of the heatsink and channel the airflow through the cooler.

The Pure Rock 2 FX uses four copper made heatpipes, these are arranged in the standard U shape. Each heatpipe has an outer diameter of 6mm and makes direct contact with the surface of the CPU.

The baseplate of the Pure Rock 2 FX has a direct touch design; this means that the heatpipes are part of the surface of the baseplate. This design is inferior in terms of performance, to a solid copper made baseplate. No matter how smooth a base is, it cannot compete with a solid piece of copper that has been machined and polished.

The top of the Pure Rock 2 FX has a stunning linear brushed texture etched into the top plate and a black paint applied on all surfaces. The endings of the heatpipes are covered by metal made caps that have a circular pattern etched on the top part.
At the center of the top plate, the be quiet! logo is placed, this logo has a chrome texture that is contrasting the matte black paint.

The Pure Rock 2 FX has a single 120mm fan included but can use two 120mm fans in a push-pull configuration. The included fan is part of the new be quiet! Light Wings series and it features a redesigned impeller and an addressable RGB ring at the front.

The fan has the model number: BQ LIW-12025-MR-PWM, with the standard dimensions: 120 x 120 x 25 mm.

The Light Wing fan has a maximum speed of 2000 RPM and uses a Rifle Bearing system.

Other features of this fan include rubber pads on the corners of the frame. The purpose of these pads is to dampen the vibration of the fan and prevent the scratching of the heatsink.

In terms of LEDs, the Light Wing fan has a large plastic made ring installed on the front. This ring acts as a diffuser for both the light intensity and the color transition of the LEDs.

The wires of the fan are unfortunately not covered by sleeving; however, they are black and will match the rest of the system. The fan has two connectors, a single 4 Pin for powering the fan and a single 3-Pin for the addressable RGB LEDs.
