Visual inspection
The ASRock Radeon RX 5500 XT Phantom Gaming OC 8 GB has a three-color design, that matches most Phantom Gaming series products, the used colors are red, black and grey.
The cooling system has two 90mm fans with no RGB elements present within the fan assembly. In addition, the fan shroud is made out of plastic and the top surface has a brushed effect, mimicking the look of brushed aluminum.
The overall dimensions of the graphic card are: 204mm in length, 127mm in height and a thickness of just 42mm.
The active cooling is composed out of two 90mm fans manufactured by FoxConn. The model number for both fans is PVA080E12R. Unfortunately, this model number is used for multiple fan models, so if you are looking for a replacement fan, you need to take into account both the model number, and the impeller design and size.
The two fans are using the 0dB Silent Cooling function, which allows them to stop when the graphics card is not heavily utilized.
The heatsink has three main components: the aluminum fins and the copper made heatpipes and baseplate. The contact between the memory chips and the metal baseplate is done through thermal pads, while the graphics core is using a layer of thermal compound.
The cooling system uses a total of three copper made heatpipes, each with a different outer diameter. These make contact with the copper baseplate.
The backplate of the RX 5500 XT Phantom Gaming OC 8GB has an abstract design with the same PG black, red and gunmetal grey color combination. The backplate makes contact with the PCB of the graphics card using hard foam pads, placed in the middle and around the edges of the backplate.
The power is delivered through a single 8-Pin power connector. The connector is found in the standard location on the outer right corner of the graphics card. In addition, the locking plastic notch is placed on the upper side of the connector.
On the rear of the graphic card we find the following ports:
– 3x DisplayPort 1.4,
– 1x HDMI 2.0b.
The RGB integration is done on the side of the graphics card. Both the Phantom Gaming emblem and name are illuminated by RGB LEDs, in tandem with the rest of the system.
The VRM of the RX 5500 XT Phantom Gaming OC 8 GB uses a 6-phase configuration. The main controller is the NCP81022 manufactured by On Semiconductor. The VRM of the memory is configured as a single-phase and uses as its main controller, a second NCP81022.
The memory chips are GDDR6 models and are manufactured by Samsung with the model number: K4ZAF325BM-HC14. These chips are specified to run at a speed of 14.0 Gbps.
