Xilence Technology Co., Ltd. was founded in 2003 and is a German-Chinese manufacturer of components for cooling and noise reduction in PCs. The range of products consists of cases, power supply units, case fans, notebook coolers, CPU-, HHD-, GPU-, RAM- and Northbridge-coolers.

Packaging and accessories

The power supply comes packaged in a cardboard box with two colors and a white background with red accents.
The front side of the packaging presents the product using an image of it, the name and a few features of the power supply.

The sides of the box are simple, in the middle there are printed both the name and logo of the manufacturer alongside the name of the product’s line.

Visual inspection

The Performance A+ 530W model has a simple design, the power supply is painted in matte black. In combination with the 120mm fan, the power supply maintains the Xilence black-red color scheme.
The Power supply has reduced dimensions, it measures 150mm in width and 140mm in depth with a weight of 1.8kg.

The front grill which covers the 120mm fan maintains the overall look of the Power Supply, the grill being matte black. In the center there is the Xilence logo.

On the back side the Power Supply uses a honeycomb-style grill, here we find both the the on/off switch and the AC socket.

On the side we have the label with the specifications of the PSU while on the opposite side there is embossed the name and logo of Xilence.

The cables of the Power Supply are exposed, the only sleeve covered cable is the motherboard 24-Pin cable. Also the PCIe cables use red connectors in order to be easier to find and differentiate.

The fan used is provided by Evercool, model EFS-12E12L, specifications: 12 V, .16A, 1400 RPM, 51.87 CFM, 29 dBA. Also the fan is connected to the PSU pcb using a 2-pin molex connector.

Despite the compact format used, the interior of the Power Supply is airy, the components are being cooled by two aluminum heat sinks.

Behind the AC receptacle we find two Y capacitors.

In the APFC section we find installed two capacitors manufactured by 12KUANG JIN ENTERPRISE, the company is based in Taipei, Taiwan, the capacitors have the following specs: 180μF/450V, next to it we have a filtering coil.  On the right side there are placed four Y capacitors.

Next to the primary capacitors on a vertical PCB there is the PWM controller, model CM6800TX, manufactured by Champion.

The standby PWM controller is placed in the center of the Power Supply next to the primary heatsink, it is model EM8569A manufactured by Excelliance MOS.

Responsible for the Power Supply’s protections there is the supervisor IC model: ST9S429-PG14, manufactured by Sitronix, it is placed on the lower side of the Power Supply next to its cables.

The capacitors used in the Performance A+ 530W are manufactured by 12KUANG JIN ENTERPRISE, secondary capacitors are manufactured by ChengX.

Testing

For testing a professional PSU tester was used, the Chroma ATE 8000. This tester is located at the testing center of the Listan GmbH manufacturer, the parent company of both Be Quiet! and Xilence.

The efficiency of the power supply was measured at a load starting at 35W or 10% of the PSU’s capacity, up to 550W or 110%.

This test shows the voltage oscillation of the power supply’s rails, these oscillations are measured in millivolts (mV). The test is conducted with the load of the power supply starting from 10% up to 110%.

The noise level was measured at three different distances from the fans (10cm, 20cm, 30cm.) the noise was measured with a margin of error of ± 5 db.

Final thoughts

The Performance A+ 530W model stands out through its good build quality and silent operation during use.
The performance of the power supply is good, having a maximum efficiency of 89.36% at a load of 210W. Also the voltage oscillation is good, especially when we take into consideration the price range of the power supply. Thr 120mm fan remains silent throughout the use of the PSU.
The cables are rigid enough to maintain their shape, but flexible not to impend the assembly process, as a side note; in the future the cables can be completely black to create a better look.
In conclusion, the Xilence Performance A+ 530W is a power supply with good build quality and an excellent performance-price ratio. The PSU offers protections such as: OVP, UVP, OCP, OTP, SCP, OLP and is 80+ BRONZE certified. All these while being competitively priced. This power supply is ideal for a budget oriented system.
