Visual inspection
The HAT5300 8TB has a simple design as most hard drives made for the enterprise sector. The HDD has an all-metal casing on both sides, with a simple paper label on the front. The HAT5300 is made by Toshiba and is based on the Toshiba MG enterprise HDD Series.
Some of the screws that hold the front protective plate attached to the HDD are covered by transparent covers. Any attempt to tamper with the hard drive and its internal construction will result in the loss of warranty and potential data loss as well.
The hard drive uses a standard SATA 6 Gb/s interface with two connectors, one for power and one for data transfer.
On the back side of the HAT5300 8TB, the PCB of the hard drive is completely exposed. This is the case for most if not all hard drives that do not use a dedicated enclosure that covers its metal casing.
