Testing
The build quality of the power bank is very good, both plastic and metal are used in its construction. There are panel gaps to be seen, and the surface of the power bank is evenly coated on all sides.
The connector of the car jump cables is made from solid brass which has been hollowed out. A hollowed-out design offers a better fit on the connector of the power bank and ensures a better connection.
The car jump start feature works really well. This was tested with a regular sized car battery which has a 700A starting power rating. The Silverstone PB06 was able to jump start the car with a weak battery with ease. However, this was done with an Ambient temperature of approximately 20°C.
In regards to the charging of a smartphone, the Silverstone PB06 also features the QUALCOMM’s Quick Charge 2.0. While not all smartphones and other mobile devices come with Quick Charge 2.0 compatibility, the power bank is able to deliver a 1.2Aps and 9V of power over the quick charge system.
Final thoughts
The Silverstone PB06 is a great power bank that can successfully jump start a regular car with a dead or weak battery. The main advantage of the PB06 over other power banks that have a jump start feature is its reduced dimensions. With a total weight of 300g and a thickness of just 22mm, this power bank is quite small for what it offers.
There are a few inconveniences found with the PB06, starting with the included Micro USB charging cable. A cable which is not long enough to use comfortably, because, the cable was always sitting on a tight angle in the Micro USB input port.
Another inconvenience of this power bank is the included LED flashlight at the front, which is useful and works. However, it is not that bright and can’t replace a dedicated LED flashlight.
And finally, the biggest shortcoming of the PB06 is that it has a single output USB port available, which is not enough.
In conclusion, the Silverstone PB06 is a good power bank that can jump start your car with ease. The build quality is very good and the same can be said for the accessories, especially the jump start cables. The drawbacks of this power bank are the lack of multiple USB ports, and the weak LED flashlight.
