Visual inspection

The Silicon Power P34A80 1TB has a good design, with a dark blue PCB and a glossy textured label at the front. This label is in fact acting as a small heatsink, having a thin layer of metal on its underside.
P34A80 1TB uses the standard M.2 2280 form factor, which means that the drive has a length of 80mm and a width of 22mm.

 

The Silicon Power P34A80 1TB has a Silicon Motion controller, the SM2263ENG model to be exact. This is a an 8-channel flash controller which is brand new to the market.

 

The memory chips used on this SSD are the standard 64-layer 3D-TLC chips, and are manufactured by Intel. The model number of these chips is: 29F02T2ANCTJ1.

 

The P34A80 1TB has a 1GB DRAM based cache, which uses two DDR4-2666 RAM chips which are made by SPECTEK, which is a subsidiary of Micron. These chips have the model number: PPE83-075E.

  1. SP are indeed good products at great pricing. Only problem I found, from actual experience, is them honouring the warranty. On pretty much every occasion they have rejected it and told me to go to the point of sale and sort it out with them. Even when it is past a reasonable time frame eg 2 years into the 5 year warranty. Shame as that is the one downside, and major one, on otherwise excellent choice.
