The Silicon Power Bolt B75 Pro 1TB has an aluminum made case that sports a matte black paint finish and ridges on both sides. The Bolt series is aimed at the consumer crowd and offers an easy plug-n play storage solution that is compatible with most devices. The Bolt B75 Pro 1TB has a weight of 105g and the dimensions: 124.4 x 82.0 x 12.2mm.
The only additional design element present on this SSD is the Silicon Power logo which is applied on the front lower part of the casing. This logo has a chromed line design and will shine in a sunburst pattern. Below the SP logo we have the only activity LED of this SSD. It’s white and does not have a bright light.
The only input and output port of the Bolt B75 Pro SSD is the USB Type C port installed on the lower edge of the casing. This port is a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port and is backwards compatible.
The disassembly process with the SSD is simple but not easy as it uses screws and clips. The aluminum casing is held together with the help of four small Phillips screws which are found on the back of the SSD. With those removed, the back part of the casing can be easily removed.
Inside the Bolt B75 Pro we find a regular 2.5” SATA SSD with a USB Type C to SATA adapter connected to it.
The internal SSD is held in place by a clear plastic tray that slides into dedicated spaces.
The interface that adapts the SATA SSD to the USB Type C connector uses an ASMedia made controller, the ASM235CM.
Next to the controller a small WINBOND 25X10CLNIG flash chip is installed. This is a micro controller often used on notebooks and storage devices.
Inside the SSD casing there is a small PCB. This is the case with many 2.5” SSDs, while the PCBs are smaller than the casings the 2.5” form factor must be maintained to make the SSD compatible with all devices. This looks to be the same PCB found inside the Silicon Power Ace A55 1TB.
The controller of this SSD is made by Silicon Motion and is the SM2259XT model. This is a 4 channel SATA controller capable of speeds upwards of 6GB/s. In addition, this controller supports Direct-to-TLC and SLC Caching.
The single memory chip used on the Bolt B75 1TB is made by Intel and has the model number: 29R08T2AWCTJ1. This is a widely used 64-Layer TLC NAND Flash memory chip.
