Testing
The GK550 Omnis has a full RGB backlight system, each mechanical switch has a single LED integrated into its clear plastic housing.
There are a total of 18 different lightning modes preinstalled on the onboard memory.

The quality of the keycaps is good, as they are made from hard plastic; however, the edges could have been thicker. The light diffusion is good and creates a sharp glow for the letters and symbols at the top.

The Num lock, Caps Lock and Scroll Lock activity indicators are illuminated by individual white LEDs shaped as rectangles. The indicators are bright and are easy to differentiate.

The SPC Gear GK550 Omnis does not feature dedicated media or macro keys, instead, all the media functions and shortcuts are integrated within regular keys. Starting from the F1 key and ending with the key F11, the functions are: Computer, Web Browser (whatever you have set as default), Calculator, Music Player, Previous Track, Next Track, Play/Pause, Stop, Mute, Vol. Down, Vol. Up. The RGB controls are located within the arrow keys and in the END/INS/DEL key group.

The software offered by SPC Gear is simple to use thanks to its easy to understand interface. The software is fast and does not require a high RAM usage. This software allows for complete control over the following: backlight, polling rate. It also allows for the profile selection, assigning other functions to any button and the creation of macros.

Final thoughts
The SPC Gear GK550 Omnis Kailh Red RGB has an average price of 70 US Dollars or EUR, and it offers a good experience in both gaming and workflow. The GK550 Omnis model is available with either Blue, Brown or Red Kailh switches, for the same price.
The RGB illumination is good and has a total of 18 preinstalled modes stored on the onboard memory. The colors are vivid and the brightness is good across the entire keyboard surface and keycaps.
The build quality is very good, the front side of the keyboard is covered by an aluminum plate that not only increases the stiffness of the body, but enhances the design of the GK550 Omnis.
The wrist wrest is useful and comfortable, with rubber pads on the underside for grip and a reliable way of staying attached, using magnets.
In conclusion, the SPC Gear GK550 Omnis Kailh Red RGB is a good RGB gaming keyboard, which offers a good build quality and plenty of features. The performance is good, as the quality of the Kailh mechanical switches has increased over the years. The RGB system is good, however, just like with other SPC Gear keyboards, the LEDs could be brighter.
The only inconvenient of the GK550 Omnis, are the thin keycaps and the complete lack of dedicated buttons. Also, a basic USB passthrough could be included. especially at this price point.
