Testing
The following system was used to test the case:
– Processor: Intel i5 4690K @ 4GHz
– Motherboard: ASRock Z87-M8
– GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 Founder’s Edition
– SSD: Crucial MX 500GB
– HDD: Not compatible.
– PSU: In Win IW-GD650PS 650W Gold
– CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-L9i chromax.black
– OS: Windows 10 64-Bit (After April Update)
The interior of the In Win A1 Plus PG is designed to offer as much clearance as possible for both the CPU cooler and the graphics card. This is mainly thanks to the installation of the power supply at the top front of the case, and having no HDD cage.
The two storage options are found installed on the back of the motherboard tray. The two 2.5” metal trays are held attached to the case by a single thumbscrew each. These can accommodate any storage device that uses the 2.5” form factor.
The case is equipped with an addressable RGB LED strip installed inside the plastic base. The two included Sirius fans can be connected to the LED strip and synchronize the effects and colors.
Final thoughts
The In Win A1 PLUS Phantom Gaming Edition has an MSRP of 220 USD or Eur, while the regular A1 Plus has its MSRP at 199 USD or Eur. Thus, the A1 Plus Phantom Gaming is placed on the upper price segment of the SFF case market. However, the features included with the A1 Plus are worth the asked price.
Starting with the included power supply, it has a good quality and custom cables, while having the 80 Plus Gold Rating for efficiency and a total wattage of 650W.
The two included fans are using the newer addressable RGB system and can be synchronized with the RGB strip of the case.
The build quality for both the metal chassis and the glass & plastic components is very good, on the same level, in fact, as other similarly priced In Win cases.
The interior layout is good and offers a good clearance for the CPU cooler and the graphics card.
One inconvenient of this case is the non-removable dust filter that is glued to the base of the case. At this price point, a removable dust filter should have been included, as well as more filtering on the rear and side of the chassis.
In conclusion, the In Win A1 PLUS Phantom Gaming Edition is a unique SFF case that is packed with interesting features, such as the included Gold Rated power supply, the two A-RGB fans and the Qi charger. The build quality is great and the design will make any system using the A1 Plus stand out.
