Introduction

FSP Group is a computer peripheral and power supply company, founded in 1993 and headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan. Since its inception, the company has been manufacturing power supplies under its own brand, but also as the OEM for other IT products manufacturers.
At the present time, FSP has expanded its range of products from power supplies to PC cases, cooling systems for processor and IT accessories. In addition, FSP is among the first companies to offer a water-cooled Power Supply.

– Easy Installation for Intel and AMD CPU: Windale 6 equips with multiple clips to support, and a universal mounting bracket compatible with the sockets of Intel and AMD.

Visual inspection

The Windale 6 model has a minimalist and elegant design, due to the materials used in its construction. The heatsink is composed of 55 aluminum made cooling fins, these as well as the entire heatsink are completely black. The cooler has a height of 165mm and a width of 122mm.

The heatsink uses 54 black aluminum fins, these have an angular design and perforations at the edges in order to facilitate the fan mounting Also the fins make direct contact with the heatpipes of the cooler.

The cooler uses 6 heatpipes made out of copper, each with a diameter of 6mm, these are arranged in a U shape to facilitate heat transfer, these make direct contact with the heat spreader of the processor.

The base of the cooler is made out of copper, being composed out of the 6 heatpipes of the cooler. The base is brushed vertically and the space between the heatpipes is minimal.

The top part of the cooler maintains overall design

of the Windale 6, the metal is matte black and in the middle the FSP logo if embossed. Here there are the ends of the 6 heatpipes, these have a nonuniform look.

The fan of the cooler is made by FPS, model CF12P12, it has the following dimensions: 120mmx120mmx24mm and features a speed between 1000 RPM and 1600RPM. The fan features PWM and Blue LEDs.

Testing

The following system was used to test the Power Supply:
– Processor: Intel i5 4690K @ 4.5 GHz
– Motherboard: MSI Z97 Gaming 9 ACK
– RAM: 8GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical
– GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 Founder’s Edition
– SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB
– HDD: WD 1TB Blue
– Display: AOC i2769VM
– Case: Phanteks Enthoo Luxe White
– OS: Windows 10 64-bit

Software used for testing the cooler:
– AIDA64 Extreme Version: 5.92.4300 (06/19/2017)
– Intel Burn Test v2.54
– Prime95 29.1

The cooler was tested with the CPU at the default turbo frequency of 3.9 GHz and overclocked to 4.5 GHz with a core voltage of 1.187 V.
Also, the included fans have been used at their maximum speed.
The room temperature was approximately 26°C (78°F), with 2°C margin of error.
The idle test consists of the CPU sitting idle at the desktop for 30 minutes, the temperature was measured at the end of the test.
The settings of the software used are the following:

Intel Burn Test v2.54 – Stress level: Maximum
Prime95 29.1- small FFT
AIDA64 Extreme Version – Temperature monitoring.
Each test was conducted for 40 minutes.

The test results are as follows:

Idle

Full Load

The noise level was measured at three different distances from the fans (10cm, 20cm, 30cm.) the noise was measured with a margin of error of ± 5 db.

Final thoughts

The Windale 6 is among the first cooling systems that are made by FSP. The overall design of the cooler is elegant, featuring an all-black construction and a Blue LED fan with sculpted frame. The six 6mm thick copper made heatpipes make direct contact with the surface of the CPU, and are arranged in the traditional U-Shape to facilitate heat transfer and dissipation.

The 120mm FSP CF12P12 fan is silent, and the blue LEDs are not overexposing. In addition, the mounting mechanism is ingenious, and dampens vibrations, however it uses a FSP proprietary design, which can raise difficulties if the rubber mounts are lost.

While the Graphics Card clearance is good, the RAM is not. The fan goes above the first two DIMM slots of the motherboard, normal memory will fit however.
