The HYDRO PTM 650W model has a modern design with rounded shapes and different color metal plates. The unit is cooled by a single 135mm fan and has a regular sized case, with the following dimensions: 150 x 170 x 86 mm. One of the features of this unit allows for the users to change the side graphics with different ones included in the package.

The sides of the power supply have a single sticker with the name of the series alongside the logo and name of the manufacturer. This sticker can be replaced with the ones included in the bundle, however each sticker is only usable once.

The back side has a unique design in terms of the perforation for the airflow. While many power supplies will have a honeycomb design, the Hydro PTM has rectangles that are rounded at the edges. The increased size of the perforation will benefit the airflow of the 135mm and thus, are not only an aesthetic element. On the right side there is the AC slot and the small On / Off switch of the power supply.

The front side of the power supply has the 9 modular connectors and a set of graphics depicting the same rounded rectangles at the back. Each connector set is labeled in white and all connectors are arranged by type.

The top of the Power Supply is simple, here we have the label with the specifications and certification of the PSU.

The cables of the Power Supply are completely black and flat to ensure an easier installation and wire management. One feature not found on many power supplies is the 24Pin ATX cable in a flat ribbon style format.

The fan used is manufactured by Protechnic Electric, model number MGA13512HF-A25 with the specifications: 12V, 0.28A, 1800 RPM, 89.99 CFM, 135 mm. This fan uses a Fluid Dynamic Bearing mechanism, this provides a better lubrication system and lower noise operation while lasting longer. As usual, fan is connected to the PCB using a 2-pin Molex connector.

The Hydro line uses the new FSP PTM platform for all their units, starting with the lowest power rated PSU. One thing that differs on the PTM platform, from the other OEM platforms available, is the usage of cables instead of traces on the underside of the PCB. While this might not affect the overall efficiency of the unit, it can be a cause for unwanted noise thanks to the air being pushed by the fan through the wires. The passive cooling is achieved with just two metal heatsinks while the active cooling is as usual, provided by the fan above, in this case, a 135mm Protechnic Electric model.

The filtering starts with the AC slot, behind that there are four Y capacitors and two X capacitor. Moving on the main PCB of the unit, the filtering continues with a single SEN013DG disconnect IC, manufactured by Power Integrations. Alongside the IC there are two CM chokes.

In the APFC section there are the two hold-up capacitors, these are manufactured by Nichicon and are rated at 450V and 270uF, at 105°C. Next to them there is the APFC converter that uses two field-effect transistors (FET), manufactured by STMicroelectronics, model number: STFH24N60M2.

The APFC controller itself is made by Infineon and is model number ICE2PCS02 while the differential comparator is manufactured by Fairchild and has the model number KA393.

For the management and control of the 5VSB circuit the power supply uses a PWM controller manufactured by Power Integrations with the model number SC1225K.

The common PWM controller is paired with the voltage regulation modules for the minor rails is a APW7159C made by Anpec. On the right of this controller we can see installed BSC0901NS MosFETs made by Infineon.

The controller for the LLC resonant is a CM6901T2X manufactured by Champion.

The main transformer of the unit is located in the center of the PCB next to the main hold-up capacitors.

All the capacitors of this unit are manufactured by Chemi-Con and Rubycon while the polymer capacitors are manufactured by Teapo. As stated before, the two hold-up capacitors are manufactured by Nichicon.
