Dream Machines DM6 Holey S

Visual inspection

The DM6 Holey S follows the overall design language of the super lightweight market of gaming mice. The highlight of the DM6 Holey S in terms of looks is the perforated casing in the shape of a honeycomb. This is done to remove as much material as possible, and thus, lower the weight of the mouse. However, by removing material, the structure of the mouse loses its rigidity which is an issue that every manufacturer has to solve.

The main clicks of the mouse use the well-known Blue shell with white dot switches, made by Huano. These switches have an endurance of over around 20 million clicks and have a great tactile feedback.

The scroll wheel is made from plastic and has two segments. The center of the scroll wheel is covered by a thick circular rubber pad, which has dotted inserts. This rubberized area not only provides more grip for your finger but also allows for a good tactile feedback when rotating the wheel.

The scroll wheel middle button uses a Huano made mechanical switch. This switch has a black shell with a yellow dot. This switch requires a moderate actuation force to operate and also offers a good tactile feedback.

At the center of the mouse, there is a small button which cycles through the preinstalled DPI profiles. Fortunately, these factory profiles can be customized through the Dream Machines software.

The left side of the DM6 Holey S has two wide buttons. These serve as the basic forwards and backwards buttons of the mouse. Thankfully, while other gaming mice have average or below average side buttons, the DM6 Holey S does not. These buttons use Huano made switches and offer a good tactile feedback with no mushiness.

The right side of the mouse features the same honeycomb pattern as the rest of the mouse. There are no buttons on this side, as it serves only as a resting place for your fingers.

The back side of the DM6 Holey S is simple. Usually, here the manufacturer’s logo would be placed, and be RGB illuminated. Instead, this side is again, only featuring the honeycomb perforations.

The underside of the mouse is also perforated which shows the effort that Dream Machines took to reduce the weight of this mouse. However, this side has some interesting features, such as the two small buttons next to the optical sensor. These buttons are not only hard to notice but they are not labeled at all. One of them enables or disabled the RGB LED of the mouse, while the other adjusts the pooling rate of the sensor.

The DM6 Holey S uses four Teflon made feet. These are small and oval in shape

The cable used with this mouse has a length of around 1.8 meters and is covered by a soft shoelace style sleeving. The connector used is a standard USB 2.0 which is also gold-plated for increased reliability. There is also a white plastic cap protecting the connector when not in usage.
