The DeepCool AK400 looks like a smaller variant of the AK620 CPU cooler. Both models sharing the top decorative plate and the heatsink design. However, that is where the similarities end between the two. Because the AK400 is made to be affordable and thus, lacks several features found on the AK620.
The AK400 is a single tower air CPU cooler that uses a black and silver color combination. The active cooling is done using a single 120mm fan preinstalled at the front of the heatsink.
The CPU cooler has a height of 155mm a depth of 73mm and a width of 127mm with a weight of 661g.
The heatsink of the AK400 has a single tower design and uses approximately 54 aluminum made cooling fins. The heatsink is symmetrical and can handle up to two 120mm fans in a push-pull configuration.
The fins are bent on the sides of the heatsink. This is done to increase the structural integrity of the heatsink. In addition, this will create a channel for the airflow to pass through.
The DeepCool AK400 uses four nickel-plated copper heatpipes. Each has an outer diameter of 6mm and all of them are arranged in the standard U shape.
The baseplate of the AK400 is composed out of metal and the before mentioned copper heatpipes. This makes the AK400 a direct touch CPU cooler, which is an older design that is often used on cheap CPU coolers. The surface of the baseplate is as smooth as a direct touch baseplate can be.
The top part of the cooler is covered by the same plastic plate found on the DeepCool AK620. It has a good design that is not over the top and blends well with the rest of the system. In addition, this place will cover the heatpipe endings which is great, as often, the heatpipes are not symmetrical.
The DeepCool AK400 has a single 120mm fan, with a speed range of 500-1850RPM. While this fan looks the same as the fans used on the AK620 cooler, it is not. This fan is the model: FC120P, and has the model number: DF1202512CM.
The corners of the fan frame are covered by thick rubber pads to dampen the vibration and prevent the scratching of the heatsink.
While the cable of this fan has no sleeving, the wires are all black and will match the rest of the system.
Do i need this over intel stock cooler?
This CPU cooler is better than the Intel Stock cooler.
It will keep your Intel CPU cooler than the stock cooler and the fan will be significantly quieter. For $35, well worth the money.
