be quiet! Silent Base 802 White

Visual inspection

The be quiet! Silent Base 802 White looks similar with the Silent Base 801. However, there are many improvements made with the Silent Base 802 in terms of the design. The case used in this review is the white variant with a clear tempered glass side panel.
The Silent Base 802 has a weight of 12.59 kg, with the dimensions: L x W x H: 539 x 245 x 507mm.

The main side panel of the case has a large tempered glass window which also has no tint. Fortunately, with the side panels, improvements have been made, especially in terms of how the panel is attached to the chassis. The glass panel is only covered by plastic or metal on the top and bottom parts, while the sides are exposed.

The mechanism used to keep the side panels attached is simple yet effective and very easy to use. The panels are released from the case by pushing the buttons located on the upper back side of the case. When pressed, the top part of the panels is released and the panel will slowly slide forwards.

The other side panel of the case is made from solid metal and has the same mechanism to stay attached to the case. In addition to that, this side panel has its underside covered by a thick noise insulation pad.

The front side of the Silent Base 802 is where the main intake of the case is. There are two entry points for the airflow of the case, the fixed point is on the sides of the front part. These all-black metallic mesh panels allow for an adequate airflow to be drawn by the fans.

The highlight on the front part is the removable panel, which by default is the solid one. Here either the preinstalled solid panel or the metallic mesh airflow-oriented panel can be installed. The removal process for these panels is very easy, as they slide up and out of the case.

Behind the front panel there is a tall dust filter which covers the entire height of the case. This filter is easy to remove, as there is a single clip at the top holding it attached to the chassis.

The intake of the case is done by two preinstalled 140mm fans. These fans are the be quiet! Pure Wings 2 140mm, which have a maximum speed of 1000RPM. At the front, the Silent Base 802 can accommodate up to three 140mm fans or three 120mm fans. In terms of radiator compatibility, the case at the front can accommodate the following radiator dimensions: 120 / 140 / 240 / 280 / 360 and 420mm.

The I/O panel of the Silent Base 802 is placed above the front panel of the case. Here the following buttons and switches can be found:
– 1x Headphone
– 1x Microphone
– 1x USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type C
– 2x USB 3.0
– 1x Fan controller
– 1x Power Button
– 1x Reset Button
– 1x HDD Activity LED

The back side of the Silent Base 802 is simple in design. At the top there are hexagonal perforations which act as a passive exhaust for the air inside the case. The included fan here is a single 140mm be quiet Pure Wings 2 unit, the same as the one found at the front of the case.
The case has seven expansion slots, with the covers attached to the case with thumb screws. In addition, a two slot vertical graphics card mount is available on the right side.

The underside of the case has its own removable dust filter. This filter covers the entire length of the case, and this includes the intake of the power supply. Fortunately, this filter is easy to remove as it slides out from the front of the case.

The Silent Base 802 sits on two long and wide plastic made stands. By default, these stands are not attached to the case to save space with the packaging. However, while this case can be used without the stands, I will recommend installing them, as they provide a good base and also allow for airflow to the intake of the power supply.

These stands just slide into place in their correct slots, and have absolutely no flex in their structure. In addition, the bottom part of the stands has wide and thick rubber pads to increase the grip of the case.

The top of the case has multiple exhaust perforations on the sides. However, just like the front of the case, the top side can be covered by either two solid panels or a single mesh panel.
