Visual inspection
The Pure Rock Slim has a simple design, with black at the front thanks to the fan and silver in the middle thanks to the heatsink. The CPU cooler has a single tower heatsink design and a single 92mm fan for the active cooling. The main advantage of the Pure Rock Slim is its reduced dimensions which provide a good clearance around the CPU socket of the motherboard.
The dimensions of the heatsink are: (L) 82mm x (W)97mm x (H)135mm.
The heatsink has a single tower design, with an all-aluminum construction. In addition, it uses approximately 45 aluminum made cooling fins which are shaped to not only dissipate heat but also increase the clearance of the cooler.
The total weight of the heatsink without the fan installed is around 300g.
The Pure Rock Slim uses three copper made heatpipes to move the heat away from the baseplate. Each of the three heatpipes has an outer diameter of 6mm and all of them are arranged in the standard U shape around the heatsink.
The endings of the heatpipes are fortunately covered by metal made caps at the top of the heatsink. This only serves a cosmetic purpose, as the endings of the heatpipes are often not symmetrically machined.
The base plate of the CPU cooler is made from solid nickel-plated copper and has a layer of thermal compound pre-applied. The heatpipes make direct contact with the back of the baseplate.
The top of the heatsink is protected by a thick aluminum plate which is held attached by four hexagonal screws. Here, the be quiet! logo is etched into the surface of the metal, with other lines on the top and lower sides. In addition, this side of the heatsink has a brushed linear texture that adds more depth to the design of the heatsink.
The cooling fins located at the back side of the cooler are shorter than those at the front. This is done to increase the clearance around the CPU socket, especially around the VRM heatsinks of the motherboard.
The Pure Rock Slim has a single 92mm fan. This is a Silent Wings 2 fan which the model number: BQ PUW2-9225-MS-PWM.
The fan has a maximum speed of 2000RPM and an estimated minimum speed of 400RPM. In addition, the fan uses a 4-POLE FAN MOTOR with a Rifle Bearing system.
The cable of the fan is all black and it is not covered by sleeving, the connector used for power is a standard 4 Pin.
