The ASRock Radeon RX 5700 XT Taichi 8G OC+ has a two-color design with abstract shapes and also the Taichi signature cog elements.
The cooling system uses three fans for the active cooling, the middle one being different and also RGB illuminated. The fan shroud is made out of plastic and has a gunmetal color on the edges with black at the center. The overall dimensions of the graphic card are: 324mm in length, 145mm in height and a thickness of 53mm.
The active cooling is achieved with the help of three fans, all manufactured by Everflow. The model numbers for the two side fans is T129215BU, while the model number for the center fan is T128015BH. These fans will stop when the graphics card is not used intensely or when the temperature is not high enough.
The heatsink is made from metal while the base plate from copper. The contact between the graphics core and the heatsink is done on the copper baseplate, while the VRM components make contact with the metal fins of the heatsink.
The backplate used on the RX 5700 XT Taichi 8G OC+ is unique, having a multi-layer design and a linear brush texture in two colors. The signature cog element of the Taichi brand are present on the gunmetal grey part of the backplate, these cogs also acts as vents for the warm air to escape.
The Power is delivered through two 8-Pin power connectors, as is the standard, this connector is placed on the right corner of the graphics card. The locking notches are on the top side of the connectors.
There are two switches on the top of the graphics card, one for selecting the Bios and the other for switching the integrated LEDs on or off. The Bios switch is located on the corners close to the output ports. The LED Switch is found on the opposite side of the card.
On the rear of the graphic card we find the following ports:
– 4x DisplayPort 1.4,
– 2x HDMI 2.0.
The RGB integration is done on the side of the fan shroud and around the center fan. The side lights up under a plastic plate that has the Taichi series emblem and the signature cogs. The center fan is illuminated from the edge, towards the center. This way, the colors and light are diffused and have an even spread across the graphics card.
The cooling system is easy to remove, it is held in place by a total of 5 (five) screws on the backplate side, and two more screws on the right edge of the card. These last two screws are small hex screws, that posed a challenge to me, as I was unable to find a suitable screwdriver.
The VRM of the RX 5700 XT Taichi 8G OC+ is running in a 10 + 1 phase configuration. The main controller is an IR35217 manufactured by International Rectifier. The memory voltage uses a two-phase design and has an NCP81022 controller, manufactured by ON SemiConductor.
The memory chips are GDDR6 units, manufactured by Micron with the model number: D9WCW, which translates to the serial number: MT61K256M32JE14:A. These chips are specified to run at 1750 MHz by default.
What size hex screws were on the side of the backplate that you had trouble with? I can’t seem to find anything that fits.
Hi,
It is tricky to say, I suspect I was something very small like a 0.5 or 1 size. I just gave up on trying to remove those screws, it was impossible to find a screwdriver that fits.
