Alpenföhn Glacier Water 240 High Speed

Visual inspection

The Glacier Water 240 High Speed has an elegant design with a combination of matte black and a glossy piano black on the CPU block. The cooler is designed to not only deliver a good performance but also stand out from the crowd looks wise. There is plenty of RGB integration across the entire cooler and the included fans. Also, all RGB LEDs are in fact, addressable RGB LEDs which deliver a better color transition.
The Glacier Water 240 High Speed has a standard 240mm radiator and two 120mm fans.

The CPU block has a plastic made body and features a piano black glossy texture. While this texture looks great, it is also impossible to keep clean as it gets fingerprints very easily. The top of the CPU block has the Alpenföhn logo at the center with a ring of light around the edge. The highlight here is that the Alpenföhn can be removed, and replaced with one of the included plastic plates.

You have a choice between the following: Alpenföhn logo, AMD logo, Thermal Grizzly logo, no logo with RGB LEDs exposed or RGB LEDs covered completely. In addition, the manufacturer provides a template for 3D printing your own plate with your own logo or design.

The baseplate used on the Glacier Water 240 High Speed is made from solid copper and has a smoot surface. In fact, the surface of this baseplate has subtle circular marks that create a sunburst effect.

The connectivity of the water block consists of two cables and two connectors. One is the RGB connector which can be used to connect the RGB LEDs of the CPU block to either a dedicated controller or to the motherboard. The other cable has a 3 Pin connector for powering the pump.

The tubes of this cooler have a length of 380mm and are flexible yet strong. Both tubes are covered by woven synthetic sleeving which is also tear resistant.

The tubes are connected to the cooler through plastic made fittings. On the CPU and pump side of the cooler, the tubes use fittings which are angled at 90° and can swivel. The radiator side uses regular static fittings.

The Glacier Water 240 High Speed radiator has a simple radiator, with the dimensions: 282 x 120 x 27 mm. This radiator is made unfortunately out of aluminum and not copper which would be expected on such a high-end CPU cooler.

The radiator also has two ports that can be used to easily access the liquid loop inside the cooler. The top port can be used for bleeding the air out of the system while the side port is used for filling the loop with coolant. Both these ports are covered by warranty stickers which means that by using the ports, you are voiding the warranty of the cooler.

The two fans included with the Glacier Water 240 High Speed are the Alpenföhn Wing Boost 3 ARGB High Speed models. These fans have a minimum rotational speed of 500RPM and a maximum speed of 2200RPM. Fortunately, both fans are PWM enabled, thus, you can control the speed through your motherboard.

The cables of the fans are not covered by sleeving to save space and for an easier wire management. However, the wires are flat and completely black. Each fan has two connectors in total, one for powering the fan and the other one for the RGB connectivity.
