Visual inspection

The Sabrent Rocket Nano V2 2TB is as the name suggests, small, really small. And it is available in a few storage capacities, 1TB, 2TB and 4TB. In this review we have the 2TB but all units look identical.

Speaking of the design, the Rocket Nano V2 is simple, has an all-metal body with a rubber cover protecting it. The body is painted in a silver color which has a lot of reflective flakes. The graphics elements on this drive are down to the Sabrent rocket logo and the Sabrent graphics.

Not only is the SSD looking good but its small, almost as small as a regular SD card, but not as thin of course.

The only input and output port for this SSD is a single USB Type-C, located on one of the edges of the casing.

The SSD has a protective silicone case included in the package. This is a soft type of case that will protect the SSD from light damage and enhance its design.

Final thoughts

The Sabrent Rocket Nano V2 2TB is a great portable SSD. It offers the advertised speeds and then some, and the aluminum made casing makes it a great outdoor storage device. Not only is this SSD small but it’s lightweight as well, with a weight of just 49 grams.

In terms of the performance, the Rocket Nano V2 is good, offering reading speeds of upwards of 1GB/s writes and 1GB/s reads. And those speeds are in all benchmarks used, however, in real world usage, the SSD can deliver up to 250mb/s speeds when copying large files.

The main advantage of the Rocket Nano V2 is the native USB Type C port. It does not use an adapter but a custom-made PCB. Unfortunately, I was unable to take it apart to showcase its internal construction, however, based on its performance, everything checks out. From a Phison made controller to the Kioxia memory chips. The Rocket Nano V2 is well made, and the performance is great.

The only drawback you might have is the price, at 200 USD, this SSD is not cheap, but, it does offer the advertised performance and quality that makes it worth the asked price.

In conclusion, the Sabrent Rocket Nano V2 2TB is a well-made and good performing portable SSD. It is solid, has an aluminum made case with a rubber protective cover, and it has a small form factor making it ideal for taking it with you. The price of 200USD might be prohibitive for some users, but it is worth it in the long run as the SSD has good quality components inside.
