The detachable cable system is easy to use; the mechanism is essentially a snap on design. I would recommend detaching the cable ends with care and in an upwards movement.

The controls for the remote are the usual: one click for pause and play, two clicks for next track and three clicks for previous track. A microphone is also installed inside the remote for taking calls.

The build quality of the headphones is good, in addition, there are no gaps between the panels and the weight of 15 grams is reasonable. The wood has a smooth finish and maintains its textured surface while blending in with the rest of the casing.

The soft silicone ear tips are comfortable and feature no hard ridges that could scratch. The preinstalled earbuds are medium in size, an extra two pairs are present in the accessory bundle, those being a small and a large pair.

The following songs have been used to test the headsets:

– The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Soundtrack
– Paradise Walk – Rogue
– Daft Punk Feat Pharrell Williams – Get Lucky
– Paradise Walk – Stranger
– Lorde – Tennis Court (Flume Remix)
– Desire – Under Your Spell
– Kokiri Boy – GlobulDub
– Kavinsky & Lovefoxxx – Nightcall
– Glass Animals – Toes
– Alice Cooper – I’m Eighteen
– Mötley Crüe – Kickstart my Heart
– T-Rex – Get It On
– Jimi Hendrix – Foxy Lady
– Jimi Hendrix – Purple Haze
– Creedence Clearwater Revival – Fortunate Son

The mid and high frequencies are well-defined and the bass has a deep signature. However, I will add that in some situations, the bass has the tendency to cover the mid-range frequencies. Of course, this is easily fixed by using different ear tips or adjusting the bass intensity with an equalizer.
The overall sound signature is good, the wood will help with the reduction of vibrations and will add to the overall sound stage due to its structure.

Final thoughts

The BASN Ebon + Pro offers a balanced sound stage with well-defined mid and high frequencies and deep bass. The overall build quality is well above the price point. The accessories included also add more value to the headphones, including two pair of extra earbuds as well as an additional cable.
In terms of ergonomics, the BASN Ebon + Pro are comfortable, the cable is not heavy and thus there is no downwards pressure applied on the earbuds. The silicone eartips are soft and can be used on a daily basis.
The microphone sound quality is average for a inline microphone, phone call can be made using it but I wouldn’t recommend it for voice commands for the smartphone.
In conclusion, the BASN Ebon + Pro are a good value pair of headphones, due to the quality and sound stage offered. In addition, the value is added by the accessory bundle that includes one extra cable, two extra pairs of eartips and an airplane adapter alongside a carrying case.
The build quality is great and the wood helps enriching the overall experience. There are no gaps between the wood and plastic panels and the MMCX detachable connectors are a welcomed feature.
