Final thoughts

The ASRock X399 Phantom Gaming 6 is an affordable X399 socket equipped motherboard, that integrates all the needed features for both performance and overclocking. The power delivery system uses quality components and its cooling is provided by two heatsinks connected by a heatpipe.
This motherboard is one of the select few models that has options and components meant for performance and not design & looks. There are no plastic shrouds and covers installed and the overall design is simple.

In terms of options and features, the X399 Phantom Gaming 6 offers three SATA M.2 slots for high speed storage and up to eight (8) SATA 3 6GB connectors that support RAID 0, RAID 1 and RAID 10. In addition, ASRock integrated a dedicated M.2 slot for a Wi-Fi card, this completely removes the need for a PCIe adapter if a Wi-Fi solution is needed.
The overall performance of this motherboard is very good, and it is best showcased in benchmarks that will fully utilize the installed CPU, such as Cinebench R15. The gaming experience is good; however, many games still do not fully utilize the CPU cores offered by a ThreadRipper platform.

In conclusion, the ASRock X399 Phantom Gaming 6 is one of the cheapest X399 motherboards available at the time of writing this review, but is packed with the features only needed for performance and overclocking, such as on-board buttons (Power/Reset/CMOS clear). And a good power delivery system with quality components.
