The Uni-directional capsule offers better noise-cancelling but does not have as much sensitivity or frequency response as the Omni-directional.
If you’re going to be using your mic in a noisy environment, go with the Uni-directional.

Visual inspection

The design of the ModMic 4.0 model is simple and functional.
On the cable of the microphone we find a Mute switch, the microphone comes in a variant without this switch at a lower price.

The logo of the manufacturer is engraved in the rotating magnetic stand of the microphone.

The cable of the microphone is long enough measuring approximately 3.3 meters in length. Also the microphone uses a 3.5mm gold plated TRS jack.

The mounting of the microphone is simple thanks to the adhesive clamp (also magnetic).
The magnetic base is fixed to the desired headset using the adhesive side, then the microphone fixes in its position on the magnetic side. The adhesive used on the clamp is strong enough to hold in place the base & microphone, removing the clamp is easy, the adhesive does not leave any marks.

The body of the microphone is flexible and the magnetic base can be unscrewed and change its position. The sound quality remains exceptional regardless of the voice volume of the user.
The Uni-directional model offers better noise-cancelling while the Omni-directional model offers better frequency response and sensitivity.

Final thoughts

The purpose of the AntLion ModMic 4.0 microphone is to replace the existing solutions on the gaming headsets. Although the sound quality is very good, it is dependent on the input device of the microphone.
The build quality is very good, the microphone offering flexibility from a position point of view.
